ARKANSAS CITY, Mo.
— “I was a kid,” says Chris Latham, the CEO of the company behind ARK: The Scorch, a card game that combines strategy and card combat that players can play online.
Latham was 14 when he started playing.
“We’re playing in the mall on a Saturday night.
It’s like a big family outing, so it’s kind of fun.
I got my friends in, we were playing and everyone’s really into it.
And then all of a sudden, all of the sudden, the game came back online.
And it was a lot more fun.”
Latham’s company, ARK Entertainment, is one of the oldest online card games to hit the market.
It launched in 1994 with a single game in the early days of online gaming.
ARK now sells more than $200 million in revenue every year in the United States.
But that doesn’t mean Latham is content with the current business model.
“If I’m in a position where I want to keep it going, I need to make sure I keep doing it the right way,” Latham says.
“There’s a lot of things we’ve learned along the way, and I feel like we’ve got a good business model right now.
I think it’s going to be a really strong platform going forward.”
ARK players have a lot to gain, too.
The game’s rules include the rule that players need to be at least 20 years old and that the game is for adults only.
So, players must get to know the characters on the card to be able to win.

“One of the big things that kids learn is, ‘How do you make money online?’
And what we’re trying to do is make that as accessible to kids as possible,” he says.

The card game has been in the works for about a year.
Linton says he and his team have already been working on it for about six months. “It’s kind
